Rest is defined as “peace, ease or refreshment” and this is what we all need at different times. Join me in celebrating that our CEO, Melinda Clark is taking a six-week sabbatical to do what does not come naturally to any of us: rest. Selah has seen growth, staff changes, program development and greater outreach, all of which are good; but they have taken their toll. The Board Members of Selah have noticed for a while the impact all the changes and success have had on Melinda. In a desire not to burn-out a devoted lover of Selah, but to care for her by encouraging her to rest, to restore, to rejuvenate, to be renewed, we agreed to grant her a 6-week sabbatical.
To be able to rest, we have to trust that the right people are in the right places doing the right things, and we committed to doing so for both Selah’s sake and Melinda’s sake. Board secretary Kari Billette will step in to assist with oversight of client relations, while other board members will take on essential responsibilities such as finances, staff development, encouragement, and donor relationships. We are fortunate that Kari is a former Selah employee and a licensed social worker. Her contributions along with those of the other Board members will guarantee that for this season, Melinda can truly rest.
Melinda will be out of the office from July 15 through August 31. If you have further questions, contact Selah’s office at 871-1307 to request a call from any of the Selah Board Members. We appreciate your support.
