All services offered at Selah are entirely free of charge. No insurance or payment is needed.

How Pregnancy Tests Work

All pregnancy tests are designed to detect the pregnancy hormone human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) in the urine. This is a hormone unique to pregnancy that your body produces when pregnant.

When to Take a Pregnancy Test

Most pregnancy tests can detect hCG in your urine approximately ten days after conception. However, taking a pregnancy test after your missed period will decrease the chances of getting a false positive. A missed period usually occurs about fourteen days after conception.

Drugstore pregnancy tests can be up to 99% accurate when taken correctly. However, false positives can still occur if one or more of the following is true:

  • Incorrect test usage
  • Previous miscarriages
  • Medications

If you take a pregnancy test too early, you can also get a false negative result.

When You Get a Positive Pregnancy Test

If your pregnancy test comes back positive, you can schedule a free limited ultrasound at Selah that will determine precisely how far along in your pregnancy you are.

Selah offers education on all of your pregnancy choices, including abortion, adoption, and parenting. Selah does not refer for or provide abortions or the abortion pill. Alternatively, Selah offers free pregnancy tests, ultrasound, and STD testing and treatment services, among other services.
